The Man Whistler

An entertaining biography of artist, dandy and wit, James McNeil Whistler. The American-born, British-based artist's most famous painting is the iconic 'Whistler's Mother' (1871), which you might recognise from the Mr. Bean movie. Elsewhere Whistler is known for the 'Ruskin Trial', whereby he sued John Ruskin because of a derogatory remark made about his painting—an action that brought a farthing in damages, notoriety and bankruptcy.
