Encounters at the End of the World

There is a hidden society at the end of the world. One thousand men and women live together in unbelievably close quarters, risking their lives and sanity in search of cutting-edge science.

For the first time an outsider has been admitted. Werner Herzog travels into the vast expanses of Antarctica - a land of fire and ice nearly twice the size of Australia. Using what are, at times, life endangering filming techniques, Herzog discovers a previously unseen world, above and below the ise cap, that is teeming with awe-inspiring and seemingly alien life.
