Retreat 2012

Retreat is an annual residential workshop that has been based in various parts of rural Britain since 2008. This is not a holiday, it is an opportunity to enjoy communal living and intensely debate artistic practices. Each year Michael Whitby, the organiser of the event, invites a range of creative people including artists, gallerists, choreagraphers, musicians and theatre practitioners who each give a presentation on their own practice, or something else, during the course of the sevenday trip. This year the Howgill Fells in Cumbria provided the backdrop for the week of discussion.

This book is a collection of notes, images, slides and synopsis of presentations given during Retreat 2012. The book is ordered in the chronological order of the actual presentations and documents the range of subjects discussed during the week.
